Choose from over 500 Architectural Colors. Custom color matching is available.

Features and Benefits:

*Acrylic Emulsion: For easier clean up.
*Available in 500+ Colors: Color matching on request.
*Vapor Permeability Similar to Glazed Architectural Tiles
*Tenacious Adhesion
*Good Exterior Performance: Highly Abrasion-, Stain-, and Chemical- Resistant. Fade resistant colors.

Application Procedures

Surface Preparation
Use Jahn M100 or M125 to repair the clay body of terra cotta tiles. The repair mortar must cure for 14 - 28 days before the application of TerraCoat Glaze Repair. Prior to application of TerraCoat always prime with SpanCoat. See SpanCoat datasheet for details. The surface must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease and other contaminants.

Mixing
Stir TerraCoat thoroughly with a power mixer, making sure no pigment remains on the bottom of the can.

Thinning
Flat finish TerraCoat normally does not require thinning, but can be thinned up to 5% or 1/4 pint (190mL) per gallon with clean water.

Application

Air Sprayer: Low temperatures or longer hoses require higher pot pressure.

   Gun - DeVilbiss(1)
   Fluid Tip - AC
   Air Cap - 62 HD
   Air Hose ID - 5/16" -3/8" (7.9-9.5 mm)
   Mat'l Hose ID - 1/2" (12.7 mm)
   Atomizing Pressure - 50-70 psi (3.4-4.8 bar)
   Pot Pressure - 30-40 psi (2) (2.1-2.8 bar)

Airless Sprayer: Use appropriate tip/atomizing pressure for equipment, applicator technique and weather conditions.

   Tip Orifice - 0.023" -0.031"
   (585-785 microns)
   Atomizing Pressure - 2000-2800 psi
   (138-193 bar)
   Mat'l Hose ID - 3/8" (9.5 mm)
   Manifold Filter - 30 mesh (600 microns)

Roller: Use short synthetic nap rollers for smooth surfaces or long synthetic nap rollers for rough surfaces.

Brush: Use a good quality stiff nylon brush. Work material into voids and avoid brushing out too thin.

Touch-Up: To minimize variations in appearance, touch-up over existing TerraCoat should be done by the same method as initial application.

Curing Time:
At 75° F (24° C): To touch 1 hour. To recoat 3 hours. Curing time varies with surface temperature, air movement, humidity and film thickness.

Clean up:
Clean all equipment immediately after use with clean water followed by a final washing.

Limitations:
* The ideal temperature conditions for applying TerraCoat and SpanCoat is between 60° - 90° F. If the ambient and substrate temperatures do not fall in this range, call a Cathedral Stone Technical Representative for special instruction.
*Do not apply over mortar joints.

Pot Life:
24 months at recommended storage temperature.

Packaging:

*One gallon unit
*Five gallon unit

Coverage:

Flat: 141 sq ft/gal @ 5 mil thickness (705 mil sq ft/gal).

Application of coating below minimum or above maximum recommended dry film thickness may adversely affect coating performance.

Storage And Shelf Life:
Store material in a dry area away from direct sunlight. Ambient storage conditions should be in the range of 35° F (2° C) to 110° F (43° C). Average shelf life is twelve months in original, unopened packaging at recommended storage temperature. Do not allow containers to freeze.

Technical Data

Volume Solids:
TerraCoat Flat: 44.0 + 2.0%

Recommended DFT (dry film thickness): 4.0 to 10.0 mils (100 to 255 microns) per coat. Note: number of coats and thickness requirements will vary with substrate, application method and exposure. Spray application typically yields 6 mils per coat. Brush and roll applications yield 2-3 mils per coat, therefore two coats are required for brush and roll applications.
