Green Etch

This water based etching compound is specifically designed to provide a surface profile on green and mature concrete. Etching is often a prerequisite for application of a high performance paint / coating system. S-309 is suitable for treating vertical and horizontal surfaces.

Application Procedures

Test Area
Always prepare a test area in an inconspicuous area prior to full application.

Preparation
Ensure that all areas not to be etched are suitably protected. Ensure that all areas to be etched are clean, dry and free of oil and grease.DO NOT DILUTE.

Application
Apply desired thickness of S-309, as determined by your test patch, by brush, 1/2 inch nap roller or a rag to fully cover the concrete surface. After 15 minutes, agitate with a broom to allow new gel to contact the surface and provide a deeper etch. DO NOT DILUTE. DO NOT SPRAY. Do not let Green Etch freeze.

Dwell Time
The time required to etch the concrete depends on the type and age of the concrete. Most concrete will be etched within 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse the product off as soon as an adequate etch has been achieved.

Removal
For small relatively smooth areas, removal of residue can be completed by wiping with a dry cotton cloth, followed by a warm soapy water rinse. For larger surfaces, the majority of removal can be accomplished by using a nylon bristled push broom or a floor squeegee, then washing the rest with running water.

Temperature
Ambient and surface temperatures should be in the range of 20° to 32°C (68° to 89°F). The product performs effectively at lower temperatures (even at 32°F - 0°C) but the dwell time increases.

Safety Requirements
Wear rubber gloves and eye protection. Avoid ingestion or contact with skin or eyes. Wear personal protective equipment. When spraying wear NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator. Do not expose to bare metal.

Packaging and Coverage
S-309 Green Etch is available in 5 gallon pails. Coverage: Depending on the substrate, the coverage rate normally falls between 200 to 300 square feet per & gallon.
